MODELS will hit the runway in an array of pyjamas and onesies at a charity fashion show next month.

Lifeline Community Action is holding the event at Woodham Golf and Country Club in Newton Aycliffe on Friday, February 20, to ensure struggling families have warm clothing this winter.

The Christian charity, which helps people of all faiths and backgrounds in times of financial crisis, will give out free tokens on the night, which guests can redeem on clothing and accessories of their choice.

As well as pyjamas and onesies, the show will feature dressing gowns, slippers, warm coats, gloves, umbrellas and heat pads.

Men, women, children and babies will be catered for.

Many of the items started out as faulty repairs from upmarket shops but have been lovingly repaired by volunteers.

Free food will also be served at the event, which starts at 7pm.

In 2014, Lifeline Community Action’s Helping Hands team helped 3,000 people cope in challenging situations by sending out hampers of essential household goods, running money management courses and holding fashion shows.

Alwyn White, Helping Hands project leader, said: “The demand for our fashion shows is increasing, which is not surprising when the quality of the clothing is so good and the need out there is so great.

“I’m sure it will be a lovely evening.”

Entry is by invitation only but places can be reserved by contacting the Helping Hands team on lifeline.action@googlemail.com or 079360-431262.

Those who would like to make a donation or want to find out more about the charity are also encouraged to get in touch.
