REDCAR Newmarket are through to the semi-finals of the North Riding County Cup after coming from behind to beat holders University of York 3-2 with goals from Daniel Puckrin, Craig Skelton and Liam Jackson.

They will be joined in the semi-final draw by Thirsk Falcons, who beat fellow first division side Thornaby Dubliners 4-1 with goals from Stuart Rose, Josh Boynton, Gareth Barber and Chris Padgett after Gareth Poole had opened for the Dubliners.

Nunthorpe Athletic, who took the lead at Old Malton St Mary’s through John Cairns, went on to lose 4-1.

Only two games in the revamped first division now without Northallerton Town Academy survived the weather, Grangetown Boys Club could have moved to within two points of leaders Whinney Banks whose match was abandoned, but lost 1-0 to visitors Richmond Mavericks with Wayne Gredziak scoring the only goal of the match after twenty minutes.

North Ormesby drew 3-3 with New Marske after trailing 3-1.

Redcar Town won 3-2 at Boro Rangers to take over at the top, from the Rangers who slipped down to second place.

Staithes Athletic won 6-0 at Billingham FC with Luke Weed scoring a hat-trick, Guisborough Globe beat Yarm 4-1, Kader FC had a 2-1 victory over Cargo Fleet AFC, Loftus beat Middleton Rangers 4-3 in an entertaining game and St Mary’s College won 2-1 at Redcar Athletic.
