Last Sunday saw six of the league teams playing in County Cups, two in the Durham Sunday Cup and four in the North Riding Sunday County Cup with five sides progressing to the quarter-finals.

Between them they scored 38 goals conceding nine. In the Durham Sunday Cup Hardwick Social entertained Hartlepool Throston Wanderers and Hardwick Social came out on top winning 6-0, a hat-trick from Kallum Hannah plus goals from Billy Gatenby, James Risborough and Jamie Owens.

Norton George & Dragon entertained Pelton RAOB and progressed with a hard fought 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Nathan Mohun and Christopher Dunwell.

In the North Riding Sunday County Cup there was convincing wins from Thornaby Village with a 14-0 win against The Fleece and North Ormesby Cons winning 10-0 against Hemlington Social Club.

Thornaby Village scorers were Glenn Corkain and Dale Hopson with four goals each, a hat-trick for substitute Matthew Waters and a goal each from Sean Wilkinson, Charlie Raby and Dominic Booth. For North Ormesby Derek Bradley scored four, a hat-trick from Lee Mahon and a goal each for David Pattison, Curtis Edwards and Marc Dolan.

Meanwhile Thornaby Meerkats beat Acklam Green 5-1 with goals from Peter Barnes (3), Paul Roddam and James Brodie-Myers. The only team to lose out was South Bank who went down 8-1 away to Northallerton Police there only goal scored by Leon Carling.

In the Ian Gorman Memorial Trophy sponsored by Goals round second division Norton Red Lion had a convincing 6-0 second round home win against first division Layfield Arms with goals from Daniel Watson, James Barton, Liam Blyth, Liam George, Ricky Dull and Ross Burdon.

In the Stephen Wells Memorial Trophy sponsored by Goals this second round tie saw first division Billingham Cowpen Club entertained second division St Marys College and just edged the tie 2-1 with goals from Ricki Bloomfield and Craig Brown.

In the Premier Division Billingham Cons swamped past Stockton West End with a convincing 8-0 win, there was a hat-trick from James McLeod, two goals for Ryan Chan plus one each from Lee Butterworth, Steven Pickard and Nicholas Matthews.

In Division One leaders Grangefield Park had to fight all the way to secure the three points against a resolute Hartburn side eventually winning 3-2 with goals from Tim Pickering, James Hall and Raymond Ayre, Hartburn’s scorers were Peter Irish (Junior) and Stuart Lane.

Stockton Red Lion kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 7-1 win away to Billingham Kings, goals from Neil Davis with a hat-trick, and two goals from Martin Small and one each for Jack Bromley and John Allison.

Third placed Village Park Rangers entertained Stockton Hardwick and both sides had to settle for a point in a two all draw, Village Park Rangers scorers were Michael Harper and Gavin Robson.

Storytellers United moved off the bottom of the table and leapfrogged Roseworth Social who they defeated 6-1, there was a hat-trick for Gavin Cattermole, two goals for Stewart Coats and one from Matthew Buckley, Paul Chamberlain replied for Roseworth.

In Division Two leaders Fairfield Sports & Social Club had a narrow 4-3 win against second bottom Rimswell who showed improved form before going down. Fairfield’s goals Daniel Horsley (2), Tom Beattie and Chris Johnson, Rimswell replied through Danny Pearce, Daniel Seaman and Mark Ozelton.

Second placed Eaglescliffe kept up the pressure with a 3-1 home win against Thornaby Aerodrome Club with goals from Robert McIlroy (2) and Thomas Upton, Terry Jones replied for the visitors.
