A RUNNING club is seeking 100 athletes to take part in a centenary parkrun.

A five kilometre parkrun takes part at Hackworth Park, in Shildon, County Durham, every Saturday from 9am.

The 100th parkrun at Shildon takes place on Saturday, February 7 at 9am.

Normally the Shildon races attract 35 runners but the organisers hope to attract 100 for the centenary run.

The parkrun is not competitive and it is open both sexes and all ages although runners under-11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Entry is free and the Hackworth runs attract athletes from across the country. Runners must register beforehand when they will be given a barcode which they must take to the race.
