PRODUCTS made in Darlington were enjoyed in a German city this Christmas, thanks to the efforts of a town twinning organisation.

Six members of the Darlington Town Twinning Association held at stall at the Christmas market in Mulheim, one of two twin twin cities the town has in continental Europe.

It was the fourth year in a row members of the association, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2013, have had a stall at Mulheim's festive market.

Town twinning chairman Tom Nutt, who is also a Darlington borough councillor, said: "During their three days on the market, members sold 250 jars of Mrs Darlington's jam/marmalade, bought from our own indoor market), as well as Christmas cakes and puddings, Yorkshire tea, ginger and mulled wine and many other items.

"All purchases for the market were made here in Darlington.

"Again this was a great success and we were sold out by the end of the third day.

"Our stall was again probably one of the most popular, as many previous visitors to our town came to see us, along with British citizens now resident in Germany.

"No doubt we will return there again next year."

Darlington's other twin city is Amiens in north-west France.
