A MAN has been remanded in custody charged with having a five inch knife in a public place in Northallerton.
Jonathan Michael Doherty, 36, of Prospect View, Northallerton, was committed to Teesside Crown Court by magistrates at Northallerton at a hearing today (Tuesday, December 23).
He is charged with possession of the knife in Lascelles Lane, in the town on Sunday, December 21.
Prosecuting, Katie Varlow applied for the case to be sent to Teesside Crown Court. An application for bail by Mr Doherty's defence solicitor was refused by the magistrates.
He was remanded in custody to Teesside Crown Court for a hearing on January 23.
