A NORTH-EAST student’s eye for design has helped her win a national Christmas card competition.
Esmee Ullyart beat off competition from across the country to be crowned the winner of the competition, hosted by Capita Education Resourcing.
Students were asked to design a card based on what Christmas means to them.
The year 9 pupil at Hummersknott Academy, in Darlington, created a card using mixed media featuring a Christmas tree, snow and words she associated with Christmas, like love, joy and happiness.
Helen Mason, subject leader for art and design, said: “We are so proud of her. The design she has produced is very subtle but very effective.
“She is good at art – she is one of three triplets and they are all very creative.”
The 13-year-old was presented with a number of her winning cards and a Kindle.
