A GLOBAL manufacturing boss and a successful product manager inspired a new generation of apprentices when they returned to their old college for an awards ceremony.
Colin Thirlway, director of global product compliance at Stanley Black and Decker, and Amy Lyons, product manager at Seawards Electronic, gave inspirational speeches at the South West Durham Training Awards on Wednesday, December 10.
The ceremony, held at the training provider’s base in Newton Aycliffe, celebrated the talents of apprentices in a range of categories.
All 11 prize winners received cash and engraved silver salvers.
Trevor Alley, chief executive of South West Durham Training, part of Bishop Auckland College, said: “Our annual awards ceremony is a showcase occasion and we are extremely grateful to both Colin and Amy.”
Award-winners included: Megan Pluse, of Woodham Academy, Newton Aycliffe; Connor Lyon, of Mold Systems, Newton Aycliffe; Nathan Bresnan, of Husqvarna, Newton Aycliffe; Liam Simpson, of Cleveland Bridge, Darlington; Neil Anderson, of Witton Castle, near Bishop Auckland; Andrew Fletcher, of Bonds Foundry, Tow Law; Mathew Emery, of Firetech; Daniel Cole of Finley Structures, Newton Aycliffe; and Andrew Morgan, of Renown, Cramlington, Northumberland.
