A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a four-car collision on the A66 in Darlington this morning.

The collision happened at around 8.45am on the A66 westbound between Sadberge and Great Burdon.

Police and two crews from Darlington fire station attended the scene, as well as a special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland.

The woman was cut free from her Citroen C1 and taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with minor injuries after complaining of neck and back pain.

The road was closed to allow the cars to be recovered but has since reopened.
