A SERIES of talks exploring the First World War starts on Monday (November 10).
Staff from Durham University’s Palace Green Library will draw on the university’s archives and special collections to discuss topics including the Darfur campaign of 1916, the Durham Light Infantry and war memorials.
The talks will take place daily from Monday to Friday, always at 3pm in the library, on Palace Green, Durham City.
Visitors can also tour the library’s current exhibition, Books for Boys: Heroism, Adventure and Empire at the Dawn of the First World War.
Professor Simon James said: “The collections of the university are an amazing resource which can inspire research into so many areas.
“Using the collections has been an incredibly enjoyable experience for me and so many others. We would love more people to do the same.”
The talks are free and open to all.
They are part of the Explore Your Archive campaign. For further details, visit exploreyourarchive.co.uk
