AN army of volunteers took to a North-East beach at the weekend to clean it up as part of an organised litter pick.
The Friends of Redcar (FRED)'s Beach Action Group, in association with campaign group Surfers Against Sewage, organise regular beach clean-ups to keep the area looking tidy and to spruce up the beach.
They met outside the Regent Cinema in Redcar this morning (SUNDAY). Volunteers started trying to improve their area after graffiti, bin fires, dog fouling and fly tipping began to get out of hand.
Now locals take part in the organised beach cleans - and even do their own litter picking when they get time.
