A LEADING author of books about birds

will talk to enthusiasts in Durham City.

Richard Crossley will give a lecture called Past, Present and Future to the RSPB Durham Local Group and Durham Bird Club on Tuesday, November 11, at Durham University’s Science Site.

Mr Crossley is an internationally-acclaimed birder and photographer.

He is author of The Crossley ID Guide series and co-author of The Shorebird Guide, which have been recognised as innovative and pioneering in their approach.

An RSPC spokesman said: “Richard's dream is to help popularise birding and so promote conservation. He hopes to change the face of birding among today's generation and the next. “Past, Present and Future showcases the stories of lessons learned while growing up in the British birding scene, from travels around the world to living today in Cape May, USA.

“It's a fast-paced story told with humour and depth, through a series of colourful and artistic photography.”

The talk starts at 7.30pm in the Department of Chemistry, in the Science Site, Stockton Road. Admission costs £2.
