A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after she fell from her horse this morning (Sunday, October 5).
The 47-year-old hurt her leg when she fell from the animal while riding at Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, shortly after 10am.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene to help paramedics because the location was difficult for land crews to access and move her safely back to the ambulance.
The woman, from Newton Aycliffe, was flown to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment.
Medics said she sustained a serious leg injury but that her condition was stable.
