A POWERCUT has left a Teesdale school with no electricity or heating today.

Despite the outage, Middleton-in-Teesdale primary school and nursery have carried on as usual and say that they are managing fine.

Julian Robinson, site manager at the school, said: “It’s a little cool but the sun is shining and that’s keeping the classrooms warm. The children know no different and we are managing okay.”

A spokesman for Northern Powergrid said: “We received a call at 6.45am to report an outage in the area. There is an engineer on site now who has identified a cable fault.

“We are hoping that the power will be restored by 2pm.”
