AN inquest review into the death of an Army captain killed in Afghanistan took place at the coroner’s court in Crook, County Durham, today (Tuesday, September 30).
Captain Richard Holloway, 29, from Hamsterley, near Bishop Auckland, was serving with the Royal Engineers, when he was killed by enemy fire east of Kabul, on December 23.
County Durham coroner Andrew Tweddle heard that important files from the Royal Military Police relating to Capt Holloway’s death had arrived.
He said the files needed further examination to determine which elements could pose a risk to UK forces if disclosed at a public hearing.
Mr Tweddle set an inquest review date of Wednesday, November 26, and said: “By the time we come to the next review hearing we should know exactly how to progress.”
