VISITORS to a ten-day celebration of Yorkshire cuisine will be invited to sample the county's best culinary creations.

The 18th York Festival of Food and Drink will run until September 28 and highlights include a taste trail in the city centre, cookery lessons and a market in St Sampson's Square.

Organiser Lynn Allington said the festival's two Saturdays would feature family hands-on workshops in the Guildhall, from 11am to 2pm, alongside a range of food sessions.

She said: "This is something we always try and do anyway, but with the market we always try and get as many people there as possible, and accept guest traders, but we are celebrating Yorkshire."

The CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival on Knavesmire runs alongside the festival until today (Saturday, September 20).

The event will also see celebrity chef Stephanie Moon team up with the Lord Mayor of York and Selby MP Nigel Adams, in a Can’t Cook Won’t Cook event on Wednesday, followed by a two-course meal in the Guildhall.

Entrance to the demonstrations, some workshops and the market, is free.
