TWO talented young siblings will take to the stage tomorrow for a carers support fundraising ball.

Alice and Emma Jordan, of Coundon, near Bishop Auckland, have taken part in a string of talent shows and charity fundraisers before but this the first time they have attended the Durham County Carers Support summer ball.

It will take place at Hardwick Hall Hotel tomorrow (Thursday) and all proceeds will go towards developing the service and directly supporting carers.

Alice, 14 and 12-year-old Emma’s mother Catherine said the sisters have always been into singing and drama.

“Alice sings 24/7,” she said. “She just comes alive when she sings.”

At 11-years-old she was diagnosed with Autism and so moved to a specialist school where she fitted in straightaway. She started singing karaoke the following year. Singer Christina Aguilera is her inspiration as she suffered her own torment when growing up.

This year, she has appeared in Autisms Got Talent, in London, and talent shows in Manchester, Disability Rocks, in Leicester, and at a fundraiser for Daisy Chain, in Norton, Stockton.

Her younger sister Emma takes her inspiration from American singer Taylor Swift and enjoys singing along to the car radio.

She hopes to become a singer songwriter one day and enjoys practising her only tunes on her guitar. Emma has also taken part in talent shows, including one she won on holiday.

Also on the bill for the fundraiser is radio presenter and comedian Sue Sweeney and County Durham dance group Kdanz Kdanz.

The event, which has seen local businesses donate raffle and auction prizes, will be hosted by The Northern Echo’s deputy editor Chris Lloyd.

Tickets are £30. For more details call Joanne Jones on 01325-524605.
