TWO of Newcastle United’s summer signings discovered even more about their new club today (Thursday, August 28) by visiting a special Magpies exhibition with local youngsters.
Dutch internationals Siem de Jong and Daryl Janmaat were joined by 20 children from Redheugh Boys Club at the Toon Times exhibition inside the Discovery Museum, Newcastle.
The free exhibition, which was specially commissioned by the Newcastle United Foundation, takes visitors on a journey through the club’s history in partnership with Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums.
The exhibition has achieved record-breaking visitor numbers in excess of 200,000 people since opening, with more than 50,000 people flocking to its opening month. Thousands more are expected before it concludes on October 5.
As well as look round the exhibition, the players took part in a special quiz with the children at the end of their visit to test their knowledge on all things Newcastle United.
“We had a fantastic afternoon meeting the children and looking through the exhibition with them,” de Jong said.
“They helped us learn some things about the club and its history. They were really passionate and enthusiastic about it and it was nice to spend some time with them.”
