TALENTED young jazz musicians are taking to the stage at Yarm School when it plays host to the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO).
The orchestra, one of the UK’s long-established bands for young people playing big-band jazz, will be performing on September 27 at 7.30pm, while leaders and members will also be holding workshops on the afternoon of the concert.
Headmaster David Dunn said: “We are delighted to be welcoming such a prestigious and talented group of musicians to our school. The concert is ideal for all the family and fans of music, and our Princess Alexandra Auditorium will provide the perfect atmosphere for the evening.”
The school will also be hosting a combined choir concert with St. Luke’s College from Argentina and the Yarm Choral Society on September 15 at 7pm, which will bring together three promising choirs with some South American flavour.
Mr Dunn added: “The collaboration between our own choir and two promising choirs will provide yet another joyous and rare occasion at the auditorium with a South American choir performing. Both events are ones not to be missed, and I would like to wish all musicians involved in the concerts all the best.”
Tickets for both productions can be purchased from Yarm School’s ticket office at Strickland & Holt’s on the Yarm High Street or at thepaaonline.org
The NYJO tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £8 for children, and tickets for the Combined Choir Concert are £2.
