THE immense success of a fundraiser at a Darlington care home resulted in more than £500 being raised for charity.
The event took place at Willow Green Care Home, in Eastbourne Road, this weekend to raise money for Dementia UK and the residents’ fund, which pays for entertainment and day trips.
Activities coordinator Nicola Laycock said she was thrilled with the result and especially enthusiastic about the turnout of more than 100 people.
“It was so busy that I had to ask my friends and family to manage some of the stalls,” she said.
She also thanked everyone who attended the event and donated money, as well as those who helped out during the day.
Tracey Kieran, a 41-year-old carer at the home, had her head shaved during the event and a raffle with a £50 Hayes Travel voucher was also held.
A tombola and bric-a-brac stall were also extremely popular, while Mel’s Treasured Memories donated a mascot for the fundraiser and tribute band Foshoddywaddy performed throughout the day.
