MAGICIAN Paul Daniels has denied he and wife Debbie McGee are going to be contestants on Celebrity Big Brother.

The 76-year-old, who was born in South Bank, Middlesbrough, has also claimed that quotes saying the couple planned to have sex in the house were made up.

The couple were rumoured to be heading into the house for the Channel 5 reality series and a story in The Sun attributed quotes to the couple saying that they were planning some 'magic' in the bedroom while they were there.

But Paul tweeted: "I have just seen the Sun newspaper. We are not going into Big Brother. AND their quotes are fiction. We have not talked to the Sun !!!"

Quotes in the Sun article included Debbie saying: "I couldn't possibly reveal what we've got planned for the Big Brother bedroom - that would spoil the surprise. All I will say is that we're still very much in love."

Paul supposedly added: "I might start a sexy exercise regime in there and get my mistress Debbie to get me in shape."

The couple, who now live in Buckinghamshire, were also said to have talked about sticking together in the face of whatever was to come in the house.

Paul, who shot to fame after appearing on Opportunity Knocks in 1970, also tweeted: "There are rumours about us going into CBB we are not! We can't due to personal issues BUT we will be going on tour with a brand new show."

This year's Celebrity Big Brother begins on August 18 on Channel 5, two days after the end of the non-celebrity series.
