A FORMER Victorian boarding school, complete with its headmaster’s house, and annex buildings are heading for the auction room.

Stanley Board School, on Front Street in the former mining town, is being offered for new ownership under the hammer next month.

The three buildings were built out of stone over an eight year period from 1891 to 1898, and are on the main pedestrianised shopping street in the town centre.

Paul Thompson, the director and auctioneer at Pugh and Company, which is selling the properties, said: “We are pleased to be given the opportunity to market such a property of such integral importance to the town at our upcoming auction.

“Many of our investors and developers are on the lookout for a unique opportunity and this site offers that tenfold.”

Each of the three buildings are being offered separately at the auction with individual guide prices of £75,000+ each and there is also the option to purchase all three as one complete lot.

The auctioneers will be holding a number of viewings in the run up to the auction, which will be held on Tuesday September 9 at the Elland Road Stadium in Leeds, and enquiries should be made directly by calling 08442-722-444 or through the website www.pugh-auctions.com.
