THE Darlington branch of a charity that tackles substance abuse has developed its allotment project thanks to a £500 donation from a building company.
Taylor Wimpey made the donation to the Darlington group of the North-East Council on Addictions (Neca).
The charity has its headquarters just a short distance from the company's Bishops Place development off Brinkburn Road.
Tony Beck, recovery lead at Darlington Neca, said: "We’re responsible for encouraging individuals within their recovery in the Darlington area including those who have had problems with gambling and substance abuse.
“Thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s generous donation, we have invested in various areas to develop the allotment project which will encourage self-sustainability while building self-esteem and motivation. In addition, we will also be donating some of the produce to Age UK.”
Darlington NECA employs a team of staff with donations enabling them to enhance their quality of activity and encourage engagement.
Mr Beck added: “I would like to offer Taylor Wimpey a huge thank you on behalf of myself and everybody at Neca.”
