A FLEET of bikes available to loan will bring free-wheeling fun to a North-East business park.

Visitors to Lingfield Point, in Darlington, can hire one of eight Claud Butler bikes to use on anything from a lunchtime errand, to a few rides round the Lingfield Lap course.

The development, which encourages fuel-free modes of transport, hopes to give workers the chance to take part in the cycling resurgence while supporting sustainable living.

Employees can hire the bikes free of charge from a 24 hour concierge service and will be kitted out with safety gear and local cycle maps.

Estate manager Eddie Humphries said: “We want to offer unique experiences to our customers, it’s important to keep that work/life balance in order to get the most out of your day and these bikes are a great way of doing that.

“Our Lingfield Lap is a ready-made route and people can take a spin on their own or with friends.

“We are always striving to provide the best possible experience for our customers and the bikes are another example of the work hard, play hard mentality of the businesses and residents who work and live here.

“It’s certainly not unusual to see our artist-in-residence Becky Sunter whizzing past – with or without knitting.”

The business park also has regular craft and fitness groups, as well as book swaps, allotments, beehives, an onsite nursery and a bistro.
