THERE will be something for everyone at two popular music events in Darlington next month.

Proms in the Park and the Darlington Rhythm and Blues Festival will take over the town over September 13 and 14, offering live music from local performers.

Proms in the Park will return to the South Park Band Stand on Saturday, September 13, with guests invited to bring along chairs and a picnic to make an afternoon of it in the park.

Music will be provided from 4pm by The Royal Signal (Northern) Band, Hurworth Concert Band, Newton Aycliffe Pipes and Drums, Central and East Yorks Wing ATC Section 1 Band, plus guest vocalists.

The event has been sponsored by Modus Seabed Intervention and supported by the Northern Military Music Group.

The following day Darlington’s Market Square will come alive with music for the annual Rhythm n Blues Festival.

The headline singer is Mungo Jerry, who has had a string of hits including In The Summertime and Baby Jump. The event will also feature the Marcus Malone Band and The Groove-a-matics.

There will be lots of local bands playing in venues across the town centre, including The Dolphin Centre, Voodoo Café and The Quaker House.

The festival is organised by Darlington R’n’B Club, who hold monthly events at the Forum Music Centre.
