POLICE have launched an investigation following what they are calling an unexplained death.

Scott Hall, 28, was found lying unconscious at home on Caterhouse Road, Newton Hall, Durham City, by relatives at about 8pm on Saturday (August 2).

He was rushed to hospital but died in the early hours of Monday.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later on Monday.

But police are also investigating an assault on Mr Hall which took place 11 days ago.

Mr Hall, who had physical and learning disabilities, was assaulted near Newton Hall Library, at the junction of Carr House Drive and Alnwick Road, Newton Hall, at about 10.15pm on Thursday, July 24.

Two youths both aged 15 have been arrested and are in custody at Durham City police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Chapman said police were treating his death as unexplained.

Anyone with information is asked to call Durham Police on 101.
