A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 44-year-old man was stabbed at Ripley in North Yorkshire on Sunday evening.

Ambulance and police teams were alerted to an address on Whipley Bank in Ripley, near Harrogate and discovered a man with fatal injuries in a car at 9.30pm on Sunday (August 3).

A police investigation was immediately launched and the suspect, a 40-year-old man, was arrested after handing himself in to Greater Manchester Police at 2.40am this morning.

Police would like to reassure local residents that it was an isolated incident and there was no danger posed to the wider public.

While enquiries remain ongoing at the address on Whipley Bank at Ripley, the B6165 remains closed to traffic. Motorists are urged to follow local diversions until further notice from the police.
