FOODS from across the world are on offer at the heart of Durham.

Durham Market Place is hosting a World Village Market, running from today (Thursday, July 31) until Sunday.

The fare includes Spanish tapas and paella, German sausages and Moroccan tagine, plus handmade furniture, jewellery and clothes.

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: “The World Village Market is an opportunity to try something a little different and to explore foods and flavours from elsewhere, as well as pick up gifts and homewares not regularly on sale in Durham.

“International markets are always popular and everyone in Durham benefits.

“As well as discovering new foreign flavours, we hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to discover a little more of what Durham has to offer to.”

The market will be open 10am to 5pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

There will also be a regular outdoor market on Saturday and the Market Hall is open Monday to Saturday.
