A FIRE station is to hold an open day to promote health and fitness for adults and children.
Consett Fire Station will host the event on Saturday, August 9, which will offer a range of activities including a climbing wall, exercise and skills sessions and boxing coaching for children.
For those who fancy being put through their paces an ‘Ultimate Firefighter Gym Challenge’ and military fitness bootcamp session are being organised, with prizes donated by local organisations up for grabs.
A number of local groups, including Consett Rugby Club and Leisureworks, will lead the activities as well as to offer advice about fitness and nutrition for all ages.
The day will also be a rare opportunity to have a look around the station and its fire engines as well to gain insight into life as a firefighter.
The activities will get underway at 10am and refreshments and food will be available throughout the day.
