ORGANISERS of the Weardale Railway’s popular Polar Express ride have already sold more than 6,000 tickets since they went on sale recently.

The heritage railway’s ride is based on the Warner Brothers film The Polar Express and it is the third year that it has run in the North-East.

Tickets were put on sale recently for this year’s event, which runs in November and December, and they have been snapped up.

Ed Ellis, president of British American Rail Services, which operates Weardale Railway, said: “We are amazed at the response to our Polar Express attraction.

“It has delighted a great many families from all around the UK and we pledge to continue to provide a fantastic experience in 2014.

“We are confident this event will grow year-on-year and continue to provide the whole region with an economic boost.”

Passengers are advised to make their reservations early as the trains are expected to sell out quickly.

Tickets range in price between £17 and £42 with details via 08000-232-383 or online at UKPolarExpressRide.com
