AFTER three weeks of shows held across ten venues, the curtain comes down on the Darlington Comedy Festival this week.

Highlights of the festival so far have been the charity gala, held at the Civic Theatre and the performances of Patrick Monahan and Rob Deering.

With 13 hours of free comedy offered throughout July, the festival has proved successful with lots of people attending events.

Event organiser Neil Jollie said: “We have tried lots of different things, some unique, including free shows and the world’s first comedy coffee morning, but they have proved successful”.

The final week sees a welcome return for 1980s comedian Jimmy Cricket and Andy Fury’s Head of Steam tour through Darlington Railway Museum.

The festival is due to finish on Sunday (July 27) with performances from Alun Cochrane and Dan Nightingale.
