SEVENTIES hit-makers 10cc will be playing a free seaside concert in the North-East this weekend.

The band, whose hits include Rubber Bullets, Donna, The Dean and I, Silly Love and I’m Not In Love, will play in Bents Park, South Shields, on Sunday (July 20).

This version of the band includes co-founder Graham Gouldman and long-time members Rick Fenn and Paul Bergess.

They will take to the stage for an hour long set at about 3.10pm.

Graham Gouldman said: “The current band is as near as you’re ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10cc. With hit after hit after hit, it’s relentless and we show no mercy.”

Support band will be the UK Rock Legends, featuring former The Animals members Martin Bland and Stevie Hutch, Ex-Eric Bell’s Thin Lizzy guitarist Graham Russell and drummer Mad Dog, formerly of the John Miles Band and Geordie.

They will perform hits from bands including Status Quo, Joe Cocker and Dire Straits.

The concert is part of the South Tyneside Summer Festival’s Sunday Concert series and gates open at 1pm.

Cllr Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, which organises the annual festival, said: “10cc are one of the biggest selling bands in British music history and we’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming them to South Tyneside alongside the UK Rock Legends.

“We hope that the crowd will be even bigger than it was for Shayne Ward and B*Witched last week and that everyone will enjoy an afternoon of rock and entertainment at South Shields seafront.”
