ORGANISERS of a concert which brought together a military choir and bands of the Dales to raise cash for a Help for Heroes recovery centre have handed over a further £2,700 from CD sales.

The sum is a boost to The Northern Echo’s First World War centenary campaign, which is aiming to raise £100,000 for a performing arts centre at Phoenix House recovery centre in Catterick Garrison.

The donation comprised profits from the sales of 500 CDs recorded by the Catterick-based Military WAGS Choir accompanied by Muker and Reeth Bands.

It is the second large donation from the musicians after a concert in March resulted in £2,000 being donated to the appeal.

The CD, called Harmonies For Heroes, is available online from www.militarywagschoir.co.uk/Dancingwithyou for £6 plus postage, while one of the songs – Dancing With You – can be downloaded from https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/dancing-with-you-single/id833518486 for 79p. Profits from all sales go to The Northern Echo appeal.

Dancing With You was written by Jill Lundberg who works for PWS kitchen component distributor - the North-East firm which donated and fitted residents’ kitchens at Phoenix House and which also sponsored the recording of the CD.
