A CANCER survivor is celebrating the all-clear by hosting a punk rock charity bash.

Darlington man Brian Alderson will join a host of North-East punk bands in raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support this September.

The 52-year-old has organised a gig at Chambers in Darlington in a bid to give something back to the nurses who helped him battle bowel and lymph node cancer.

The gig, which will take place on Saturday, September 14, will feature performances from a variety of punk bands including Gimpfist, Last Rough Cause and Crashed Out, who are all playing for free.

A tattooist at the event will enable brave audience members to take away a lasting memory, while the celebration of skinhead music will also include sets from punk and oi (correct) DJ King Boy D.

Mr Alderson paid tribute to the nurses who supported him through more than six months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, saying: “The nurses were fantastic and I want to give a little back – if it’s successful enough, I’ll try to make it a yearly thing.”

The event will take place at Chambers, on Duke Street, from 1pm on Saturday, September 14.

Tickets are £7 in advance or £10 at the door. To book, call 07704-233112.
