Two people were taken to hospital after a two car smash on the outskirts of Darlington.
The collision happened near Neasham Springs Farm, Neasham Road, near Hurworth, on Saturday and involved a Vauxhall Corsa and Vauxhall Vectra.
A man in his 30s had to be cut free by firefighters before he was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, by the Great North Air Ambulance.
A woman was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital by road ambulance.
Two fire crews and a special rescue unity responded at 4.25pm. The road was closed to allow recovery of the vehicles and an investigation into the collision.
Police are still investigating the incident and say the injuries sustained as a result were minor and not as serious as first anticipated.
