Police treat woman's North Ormesby house blaze death as murder

POLICE are treating the death of 50-year-old Teresa Ryan in a house fire as murder.

She died on the night of Wednesday July 9 at her home in Warton Street, North Ormesby, near Middlesbrough - despite the efforts of firefighters.

A 32-year-old man from Middlesbrough has been arrested for murder and burglary and a 28-year-old woman from Middlesbrough has been arrested for burglary.

Both are currently being questioned by police.

Ms Ryan was dropped off at her house by her family at around 9.45pm and police want to hear from anyone who say anyone behaving suspiciously in the area after that time.

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area around Warton Street and anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
