A MAN has appeared before magistrates charged with eight sexual offences against children in the 1970s.
Raymond Bennett, of Daryngton Close, Darlington, is charged with raping a child.
The 64-year-old also faces five charges of indecent assault two charges of committing an act of gross indecency.
Mr Bennett did not enter a plea when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court in County Durham today (Thursday, July 10).
The case was committed to Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, July 24.
Mr Bennett received unconditional bail.
