DOZENS of dancers, from youngsters to experienced adults, will take to the stage this weekend.

Almost 160 young performers will take part in Aycliffe Dance Academy’s summer show on Friday, July 11, and Saturday, July 12, at the Xcel Centre, Newton Aycliffe.

The dance extravaganza, dubbed We Dance as One, will bring together a range of styles, including tap, street, cheerleading, ballet, acrobatics and musical theatre.

There will also be routines to popular music from Disney’s Frozen, Mama Mia, Mission Impossible, Shrek and many more.

Emma Cox, principal of Aycliffe Dance Academy, said the children had been training for months and were excited about the performance.

She said: “The big finale of the show is to demonstrate how we all come together through dance as one. It brings together people of all different ages, abilities, dance styles and experiences.

“This represents how we would like to see our world – coming together as one.”

Performances take place at 7pm on Friday and 1pm and 5pm, on Saturday.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for children, aged 13 and under.
