STUDENTS are putting the finishing touches to a summer show.

Youngsters from Belmont Community School, Belmont, Durham, will perform Disney’s High School Musical 2 in school from Wednesday to Friday (July 9-11).

Sam Fagan and Madeleine Pritchard will play the lead roles of Troy and Gabriella, with Lucy Sefton as the evil Sharpay and Travis Ross as her brother Ryan.

Performing arts curriculum leader Laura Jackson said: “The students have risen to the challenge of High School Musical 2 and they have worked hard with our devoted performing arts staff to get the production stage ready.

“We’re really looking forward to getting on stage.”

Lucy Sefton, who is in year 11, said: “I’m so excited about performing as Sharpay.

“I was in year seven when we did High School Musical and it’s great we’re doing the second one just as I’m about to leave.”

The performances start at 7pm, with the bar open from 6.30pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults and £3 for concessions. To book, call the school on 0191-386-5715.

High School Musical follows Troy as he worries about getting a job, paying for college and staying with Gabriella.

Originally a Disney Channel film, its premiere was watched by more than 17 million viewers in the USA alone.
