A CITY centre Post Office has been given a major facelift.
Durham City’s main Post Office, on Silver Street, has been substantially modernised as part of a national multi-million pound investment programme.
Bosses hope the new layout, which includes four self-service kiosks, will provide a brighter retail environment and cut waiting times.

There are new open-plan counters, including a dedicated counter to accept mails, and a private consultation room.
Post Office regional manager Martin Rouse said: “We’re delighted with the changes that have been made with the changes that have been made at Durham Post Office and are confident that customers will be just as pleased.
“The modernisation programme is ensuring customers are served in a more modern retail space and the changes mean increased convenience and greater space options.
“The dedicated mails counter means customer sending multiple packages or letters can drop these off for a quicker services service, while our new self-service kiosks offer an expanded range of mails services and retail products.”
The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, has 11,500 branches across the UK.
