A VILLAGE came out in force this weekend to celebrate residents’ cake making skills.
The seventh annual Cake, Pie and Pudding Festival held at Cowshill Village Hall raised more than £200 for the Farplace Animal Rescue.
Thirteen culinary creations were entered into the competition with Ian Reedman being named overall champion for his tiramisu.
Mr Reedman also won the men’s championship while Eileen Stoner’s cherry mille-feuille gained her the women’s title and Hannah Dunn, 13, was named the Under 16s champion, for her raspberry cheesecake and raspberry coulis.
Mr Reedman has previously won the men’s championship but this is his first overall winner title.
The culinary master said: “It’s been a good day.
“We maybe haven’t had as many as we have seen in previous years but what was here was of a great quality.”
All the cakes and desserts were then raffled off for charity.
Each winner received a trophy and a cook book while Mr Reedman was also presented with the perpetual cup awarded each year to the overall winner.
The festival has raised more than £2,270 for various charities since it was started.
The event was held at Cowshill Village Hall on Saturday (June 21).
