Fun in the sun for village festival
1:31pm Sunday 22nd June 2014 in News
A DARLINGTON village came alive with colour and fun during an annual festival.
The sun shone and hundreds turned out for the annual Sadberge Summer Festival on Saturday.
Attractions included Morris dancing displays and performances by Darlington Youth Brass Band.
There was also a display of vintage cars and tractors, drumming workshops for children and strawberry cream teas.
St Andrew's Church, in the village, hosted colourful flower arrangements and an exhibition of local art and photographs.
Anne Alderson, from the festival committee, said the day had been a huge success and organisers were already thinking about the tenth anniversary event next year.
She said: "It went really well, we had a lovely day for it, the weather was beautiful.
"The pubs and village hall were busy and the feeling was that everyone had a good time.
"Most of the residents came out on the day, and the field we use as a car park was full, so we had a lot of visitors from elsewhere as well.
"There is a strong team of people who do a lot of hard work to pull the thing together every year."
