Help Northallerton FC with a spot of DIY - plea
Updated 6:41pm Friday 13th June 2014 in News
PLAYERS and fans are being urged to help out a non-league football club on Saturday (June 14) with a spot of DIY.
Northallerton Town FC is gathering members, supporters, friends and family to give the ground a much needed make-over.
As well as DIY tasks to do, there will be free activities on the day, including mini soccer for five to 11-year-olds with FA skills coach James Lofthouse from1pm to 3pm, face painting, bouncy caste, early evening barbecue for all participants and the England versus Italy game in the clubhouse.
The event is part of the FA’s Self Help Facility Improvement Programme.
Andrew King, the FA’s facilities and investment project officer, said: “At a local level, this programme will make a real difference in meeting the needs of grass roots football clubs as determined by them.
"The scheme will value volunteers and provide a platform to generate new volunteers for participating clubs. It will help attract more players, spectators, coaches, administrators to the club both through the event and through better facilities."
Northallerton is one of only eight clubs in the country which has been chosen to take part in this pilot.
