SEVERAL people have been injured after two buses collided in Newcastle.
At 5.11pm, police received a report of a collision on the A167, underneath the flyover at Grandstand Road.
"At the current moment in time, a small number of people suffering from minor injuries have been taken to the RVI in Newcastle for treatment," a spokesman for Northumbria Police said.
"There is significant traffic congestion in the area, with tailbacks on the Central Motorway. Northbound traffic on the A167 is being diverted at Grandstand Road, traffic is being diverted up and over the flyover, and traffic lights are being over ridden to keep traffic moving.
"Officers are at the scene dealing with the incident and associated congestion issues."
