SHOTGUNS and ammunition were stolen when raiders targeted a house in North Yorkshire.

The burglars struck at a house in Low Worsall, near Yarm, when the owner was away on June 2 and 3.

They stole a blue Suzuki Jimny estate, registration number YE06ABO, two shotguns, ammunition cabinet containing ammunition and two watches.

The stolen car contained a pair of green Le Chameau wellington boots and a Jack Pyke hooded camouflage jacket.

The thieves also entered a green house in the rear garden of the property on High Lane, removing tools and other items.

Detective Constable Scott Nugent said: “The suspects entered and searched the house and a green house and it’s likely that they made a noise in doing so.

“Anyone who saw or heard any suspicious people or vehicles in the area or has any other information which could assist the investigation, is urged to contact the police as soon as possible along with anyone who knows where the blue Suzuki or the stolen items are now.”

The stolen weapons included a 20-bore Beretta over and under shotgun, serial number L87713B; a 12-bore Laurona over and under shotgun serial number 184479 , a .17 HMR bolt action rifle and sound moderator.
