POLICE are investigating after a flat-screen television was stolen during a daylight burglary.

Thieves forced entry to a Twinsburn Lodge, in Heighington, near Darlington, between 2pm and 6.30pm on Sunday, May 25.

A 33in LCD flat-screen Panasonic television, worth an estimated £370, was stolen.

Detective Constable Neil Stannard, of the Darlington serious crime team, said the television was the only thing taken during the break-in.

He said: "It was a Bank Holiday weekend and I am appealing to any dog walkers that saw anything unusual, or anyone who saw anything in the village, to get in touch."

The television was the only thing stolen in the break-in, leading officers to treat this as an opportunist theft.

DC Stannard added: "They forced entry via the front door using a crow bar.

"My feeling is that whoever is responsible for this has come from the village, that is my suspicion."

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Stannard on 101.
