STAFF at the Skipton Building Society’s Bedale branch put on a cake bake break for customers to raise money to help fight multiple sclerosis (MS).

The branch, based at North End, took part in the national Cake Break campaign run by the charity, handing out an assortment of homemade cakes and raised £55 for research.

Valerie Abbey, customer review adviser, said: "One of our customer advisers, Vicki Lancaster, has a family member who sadly died of MS and we have a lovely customer who is a member of the Hambleton and Richmond area MS Society who brought the Cake Break to our attention.

“We felt it was a wonderful cause that does not get the same amount of publicity as other charities so decided to go for it. We’d really like to thank all of our customers who donated so generously for this great cause.”

The MS Society campaigns to improve treatment and care for people with MS, funding vital research. Nationally, cake breakers were expected to raise £350,000 which would pay for over 6,000 hours of life changing research.
