A CITY will host its first “pride” festival this week.
The first Durham Pride will take place around Millennium Place, Durham City, on Thursday, June 5.
There will be free entertainment, with proceeds going towards the launch of a same-sex domestic abuse charity in County Durham.
Miss Cybil DuVaux, from Blackpool Pride, and Miss Tess Tickle, dubbed the “Queen of Durham”, will host.
There will be drag acts, Shirley Bassey and Adele tribute acts, live music from Kredo and an appearance by rapper Jay’Em.
From 5pm until 9.30pm there will be buskers, fire-breathers, stilt-walkers and other entertainment.
Indoors, entertainment at the Slug and Lettuce and Loveshack begins at 7pm.
A women only space will be available in Clayport Library from 5pm.
Tickets for Loveshack can be reserved for free online at eventbrite.co.uk. No other venues are ticketed.
