RESIDENTS are celebrating after a revamp that has breathed new life into a redundant patch of land.

People living in flats in Gunnerside Road, Cornfield Road and Brookfield Road in Fairfield, Stockton, gathered to check out the work carried out to their outdoor communal area by their landlord Tristar Homes.

It also marked the end of Keepmoat’s modernisation work carried out to the 100th block of flats owned by Tristar Homes, which is part of the Thirteen Group.

Dave Pickard, director of operations for Thirteen, said: “We hope the area surrounding the flats will now be enjoyed more by residents and their families and provide the opportunity for people to get to know each other better.”

The large green area in the centre of the nine blocks of flats was previously being used to hang out washing, with much of the land unused.

The work has resulted in off street parking being created, as well as a small patio and barbecue area and gardens for each block of flats.

Residents, as well as youngsters from Fairfield Primary School and St Patrick’s Primary School were also involved, getting creative in workshops run by local artist Glynis Johnson to help develop mosaic work and digging in to plant flowers and shrubs in the gardens.
