COMMUNITY projects based in south Durham are being invited to apply for small grants.

The eligible groups must be located in Ferryhill, Chilton, West Cornforth and Bishop Middleham, to be able to access the small grants scheme for financial support.

The 4 Together Area Action Partnership has agreed to allocate £15,000 worth of funding to support grass roots community organisations.

Grants of £200 to £1,000 will be available to fund projects or activities which meet the partnership’s priorities for the coming year, which are employment, job prospects, education and training; activities for children and young people and older people.

Sandy Denney, principal AAP co-ordinator, said: “We deal with the issues which concern you and your neighbours and we work with our partners to shape and improve local services.

“We also want to make sure that we reach out to small groups to support the important work they do in our communities.”

The scheme will be open for bids on Monday, June 2.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 30, at noon.

Partnership officers will support applicants through the process.
